Starting off a new month with pizza is fabulous! This week has been really busy for both of us. Between work stuff and other outside commitments, it seems like we’ve been running nonstop. I’m hoping that things slow up starting on Sunday and we can relax and do whatever the rest of next week.
Pizza turned out amazing this week! We’ve been having beautiful weather with no humidity which has made everything so pleasant! I still stuck with the new summertime method of using whole wheat flour for the crust though. I think this is key and will go back to spelt once the weather cools down for fall.
Pretty simple veggie pizza this week:
- Whole wheat crust
- Pizza sauce
- Shredded moz and asiago
- Red Onion
- Carrot
- Broccoli
- Mushrooms on Scott’s half
YUM!
We kicked it watching Antiques Roadshow because that’s how we roll. Some chick found a painting…

Hi gang! We were finally able to make it back to the Hilliard Farmer’s Market this week! I would love to go every week but for our schedule it is sort of at a bad time. If it started one hour earlier it would be perfect!
There was a two new booths this week, Oink, Moo, and Cluck and Blue Jacket Creamery. OMC were also grilling while we were there! We were not looking for meat purchases though so we didn’t make it down that far. I wanted to try some cheese from Blue Jacket but a parent wasn’t paying attention to her kids that were going back to the samples multiple times with the same toothpick. Um, so yeah, I didn’t get to test taste much. I did some try of their Grillin’ Cheese, which is cheese you can slice…

Don’t let this picture scare you, I promise that Scott actually has pants on! It’s a special picture because it was taken after Scott’s first run with me! YaY! I finally put my foot down and told Scott that he was going to start running with me.
Here’s the thing before you start accusing me of demanding my husband around because I don’t do that. Scott’s only activity that he gets is martial arts which is alright. But if we miss class that day then he doesn’t get any exercise at all. None. He’s got some heart disease and other type of things in his family medical history which isn’t good. I want him around for a super long time and that means he needs to step it up in the exercise department.
This is where running comes in to play. Running isn’t a super new…

Holla! It’s another week gone by and I’m both excited and a little sad. Excited because it’s almost time for our anniversary! Whooo! And sad because it means summer is flying by and I’ll be running in 5 degrees and snow again a lot sooner than I would like. Ewww!
But coming back to the present, we had pizza last night! Hooray! Of course I was nervous making the dough since lately it has not wanted to cooperate with me at all. Stupid angsty dough! This time I changed things up again and used white whole wheat flour instead of spelt. Really basic veggie pizza. I didn’t want to go crazy prepping toppings just in case the dough didn’t work out.
- Whole wheat crust (still using this method)
- Pizza Sauce
- Shredded moz, asiago, and parm
- Red Onion
- Green Pepper
- Spinach
- Mushrooms (Scott’s side)
Hooray for…

The heat and humidity are seriously getting to me this summer. When you start sweating just from washing dishes, you know it’s dang cold. My appetite has gone down the tubes during the super hot days and most days I don’t want anything but something cold to eat.
I don’t mind cooking but I really don’t want to crank the oven on for an extended period of time nor do I want to stand over a simmering pot of whatever tending to it.
I have busted out the crockpot which is actually a very nice appliance to have in the summer! Just toss ingredients in and let it do its thing without heating up the kitchen and breaking a sweat.
But I can only use the crockpot so much before I start running out of things to use it for. And it still provides us with a hot meal which sometimes…

Hello my little foodies! How are you doing and how was your weekend? Mine flew by! So much so, that today I’m sort of wondering what day it is. I didn’t even exercise today which is strange for me! All I wanted to do this morning (and still want to do but that’s between us!) is sleep in my super comfy bed.
I love my bed.
This was Scott and I’s first “big” purchase when we moved in together. We tested beds and shopped around all day long. Finally we decided on a queen bed with pillow tops on each side! Very decadent. Eleven years later and we still have that bed and it is still just as awesome as the first night we had it. We are probably due for a new bed but I really don’t want to get a new one!
My last couple of Homespun…

Hello my pretty little athletes! How did we all do this past week with our training?
Don’t worry, that’s not my dog spazzing out, he’s just really excited in this picture and doing his happy dance. Life would be a little more fun if we all did happy dances don’t you think?
My week started off alright and then ended really well! Monday I tried a new workout DVD and tried Jackie’s workout. It was alright but not as intense as a Jillian workout. I probably will have to consider upping the weights when I do that DVD again. I did wake up sore the next day so I must have done something right!
Tuesday I needed a rest day like you can’t even imagine. I was exhausted. I didn’t do anything, not even Muay Thai.
Wednesday I kicked it for a shortie 3 miles. It was very overcast when I woke up and it seemed like it was going…

Hooray pizza! If you’re curious why there was no report from last week, (if you even noticed ) is because there was no pizza. My dough started out alright but somewhere along the way it turned to crap. It wouldn’t roll out and stay together. Instead it was a gloppy mess and I turned to Plan B. Which was Pad Thai that was deliciously spicy and a nice way to ease the suffering.
This week I decided that I was going to tackle this beast and make some flipping pizza! I made the dough and promptly stuck it in the fridge. My belief being the weather was affecting the dough. The heat and humidity causing the dough to rise too quickly making it unstable.
At least this is my belief, I have no idea if I’m correct.
We came home and I pulled the dough out of the fridge. It rolled out nicely and didn’t fall apart as I…

If you’ve been reading here for any length of time then you know that I love my oats.
Probably a little too much. Oats bring me joy! And comfort and a full belly. I eat oats everyday in some shape or form. Typically a bowl of oats that I just made but I also have been known to inhale oatbran and a yogurt mess with granola often as well.
Recently with the very hot temperatures we’ve been having and the ridiculous amount of humidity that has made itself known, the idea of a hot steaming bowl of oats is less than appealing. All I want is COLD stuff. I don’t mind hot coffee but everything else must be as cold as it can get!
Even making and eating dinner is not so much fun because I don’t want to deal with the hot and my appetite has gone down a bit…
