January 19th, 2010: Is it working

January 19th, 2010: Is it working

Hi guys!  I could not get warm last night at all.  I hate that!  I made a mug of tea and headed to bed to get snug with my toasty bed warmer (I mean that literally, “bed warmer” is not a euphemism) but it took me ages to get warm.  I even had to sleep with my socks on for a bit.  Sexah!  And also, ew.

I’m still reading SK’s, Under the Dome.  It’s just okay so far.  Some of the characters are a little hard for me to read because they have personalities that I cannot stand.  The kind where you are able to relate because you know/knew/interacted with someone just like that?  Yeah.  Sometimes the actions and behaviors of the characters are a little hard to stomach.  Does that ever happen to you when you are reading a book?  Do you ever stop reading a book due to the sheer fact you absolutely hate the characters?

That’s happened to me…

January 18th, 2010: I am woman

January 18th, 2010: I am woman

Hi guys!  As promised, here is my snack from last night.

A glass of red and triple threat chocolate!  Left to right:

  • 60% dark chocolate chips
  • Dark chocolate mint
  • Sea salt chocolate

I had one sea salt, all of the mint (so freaking good! totally my favorite) and a few of the chips.  No way I would eat all that chocolate but I wanted to be able to pick and choose while watching TV.  We finished a hockey game and watched the first episode of The Worst Cook’s In America.  We will not be watching that show again.  It’s horrible and also comes across as totally fake.  The “cooks” seem like actors who are trying to play the worst cook in America.  It’s like a spoof, it’s very strange.

Oh and we also watched some Antiques Roadshow to get our grannie and gramps moment in for the day.

I am on a…

January 16th and 17th, 2010: bummer

January 16th and 17th, 2010: bummer

I wrote this yesterday but for some reason my photo program decided to crap out on me and was not working so it didn’t get posted.  I wanted to get this up so I didn’t change any of the verb tenses to past.  You’ll live through it, I know you will.

Friday evening Scott and I watched an old movie (Sherlock Holmes) and had some snackies!

Wine (obv, it’s Friday) and some chocolate zucchini bread!  Wooo! It was so freaking good.  It’s extremely hard to take a picture of something chocolate and make it look edible.  You just have to trust me that this is some good stuff.

Saturday morning, aside from one sore spot on my back I was feeling 100% better than I felt Friday.  Goodness!  I really just needed that down day.  We hit up MT and then headed…

January 15th, 2010: Wrex’d

January 15th, 2010: Wrex'd

Hello lovelies! My snacky-poo from last night:

I had some wine and some nutroll.  Wooo!  So delish and nutrish!  Give it up for antioxidents and homemade baked goods!

I had considered running or possibly doing some strength training today but wow my bod is sore and exhausted.  Lawd!  And therefore I didn’t do crapola.  I know the difference between needing a break and when I can keep going, today was definitely in the realm of needing to just crash basically.  And that’s what I did.  I did a bunch of shiz around the house and stayed in my jammies as long as possible.  I did manage to change out of them to walk the dog.  I will take accomplishments where I can.  Today’s weather has been amazing!  Forty degrees is so warm!

It is overcast and slushy as hell outside,…

January 14th, 2010: Fruit love

January 14th, 2010: Fruit love

Hi gang!  I had a snack last night after stick fighting class.

2 slices of cinnamon raisin Ezek bread with PB and honey plus a mug of tea.  Mmmm!  Supper was in no way filling, I wanted more! But sadly the leftovers were just enough for two full bowls.  It was yummy, but I just needed more.  Since my stomach felt empty and was sort of growling, I decided to roll with it and have a snack.

This morning I got up and kicked out five miles, wooo!  I wanted to do more but didn’t want to push myself.  In class last night, we were doing some kicks and where I was holding the pad kept digging into my thigh each time Scott kicked.  After a while it got really sore (as is going to happen after repeatedly taking a kick to the same spot) and now I…

January 13th, 2010: What gives

January 13th, 2010: What gives

Hey gang!  Look at my little indulgent snacky-poo last night:

Wine and PB cookies!  We had a bottle open from Sunday and I didn’t want the wine to turn; there was just enough left for each of us to have a glass.  I also had some PB cookies because my bellah wanted something else.  I had three of the little guys.  Mmm  Vegan PB cookies with whole wheat flour and maple syrup.

I finished my No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency book and I have to say this one was really bad.  It was number 9 in the series and nothing in the book happened at all.  Nothing.  It was ridiculously boring and I’m a little bummed.  Why do series end up sucking?  I’m now reading Under the Dome by Steven King and we’ll see how that goes.  His post-accident books tend to be really…

January 12th, 2010: It’s gettin’ hot in here

January 12th, 2010: It's gettin' hot in here

So take off all your clothes!

Wait, what?  Sorry!  Didn’t mean to head off on a weird tangent.

However, I can tell you that temps this week are starting to warm up and it was 18degrees for my run this morning.  For serious!  I was loving life so much that I cranked out 7 miles.

And the angels sang.

I almost *almost* came home at 5 because my bellah was a bit grumbly but I punched out for 7 because my thinking was, take advantage of the warm weather while I can because this is Ohio and who knows what will happen tomorrow.  Ohio is weather schizo and I mean that in a very PC  way because I am totally PC and on the up and up.

After my cold shower, brrrr, I warmed up with the space heater and a huge bowl of oatbran.  Mmmm yummy!  I slapped Rocky’s coat on him, put on my new and stylish army jacket…

Monday Jan 11th, 2010: Boring

Monday Jan 11th, 2010: Boring

Hey gang!  I stayed up way too late past my bedtime watching old movies and reading.  I had some wine and chocolate for movie time though!

Mmmm dark chocolate!  The chocolate on the left is Lindt dark chocolate mint and it’s fantastic!  It tastes like a really high quality peppermint patty without all the icky-poo white stuff in the middle.  I could have eaten a whole bar of it!  The chocolate on the left is just some World Market dark chocolate and it’s alright.  I had one block of that.  We watched “Man Hunt” and “The Thin Man”.  Man Hunt was alright and The Thin Man was pretty good.  To help turn my brain off before sleeping, I read for a few minutes.

I wanted to get up early this morning and possibly do some shred but that was…

January 9th and 10th, 2010: Cheese

January 9th and 10th, 2010: Cheese

First things first:

Friday evening I had some wine and mint chocolate cookies.   Not all of those thanks, but I totally could have because they are super tasty.  Just an FYI, I’m sure you guys know this already but I’m just tossing it out there so we are all on the same page.   When I show snacks like this, it is safe to assume that these are treats that I made using whole wheat (or spelt!) flour and low sugar amounts.  No butter but possibly olive oil or yogurt.  If I use eggs, I typically only use egg whites.  If the dessert is something I picked up from Whole Foods or some other place, I will specifically state that so you know.

Yesterday Scott and I were out running errands all flipping day long.  By the time we…

January 8th, 2010: you’re my lobster

January 8th, 2010: you're my lobster

Last night while watching some hockey wine was involved.  Along with dessert.

Hello vegan chocolate pudding!  Lovely to see you! Just an aside, it’s really hard to take a nice picture of chocolate pudding.  Someone once suggested (because he didn’t like my picture ) to use whipped cream.  We don’t eat whipped cream so that trick won’t work!  If you have suggestions for making it look more appetizing, I am all ears.

I was going to possibly run today after sleeping in, but the wind kept me at home.  That and the fact that I really wasn’t ready to give up my comfy jammies just yet.  I poured myself some coffee and made a huge yogurt mess.  After a bit of time at the computer and my pulling my hair out trying to…
