About OHC
The Kitchen:
The Off Her Cork HQ is a tiny kitchen space that causes Andrea to grumble, groan, and swear on a daily basis. Most of the appliances are outdated, the countertops are less than desirable, and the triangle of efficiency does not live here. However this does not stop Andrea from smacking it around and making it do her bidding. The results end up being pretty tasty (usually!) The HQ is powered by wine, chocolate, and plenty of cheese.
Off Her Cork:
Andrea is the one who does all the cooking and is in charge of running the HQ. She runs a tight ship so don’t be alarmed if she tells you to get out of the way. Garlic is her life force and she believes there is no such thing as too much seasoning. When cooking for a significant amount of time, jazz, swing, or big band will be on the radio. She has yet to discover the perfect cutting board and her kitchen knife is always at the ready. A perfect evening would include candles, nice music, a bottle of red, and some yummy finger foods to pick at all night long. Add in an old black and white movie and her two boys and the evening went from perfect to amazing.
The Husband:
Scott is the food-tographer and the dish-dryer. Not dish washer because Andrea does that a little bit better (and faster but don’t tell him that!). He is also the Quality Control Official who must inspect each and every dish thoroughly. Sometimes twice. Occasionally a third time. Scott does not cook and that’s okay because Andrea is a bit of a control freak about the HQ (just between us of course) and how it should run. He loves ham any way he can get it and especially when Andrea puts ham in her mac ‘n cheese. He’s in charge of wine pouring, music playing and keeping the conversation flowing. Scott is also in charge of the grill, which basically means he’s responsible for lighting it. But around here it’s called, “Manning the Grill” which leaves him feeling like he has some more control over the situation.
The Baby:
The babies!
Rocky is a brindle boxer baby boy. He’s 7 and just starting to show some grey around his eyes and on his chin. This has earned him the nickname of Grandpa which I’m pretty sure annoys him. He is a total mama’s boy and has no shame about it. This is because his mom cooks for him and he makes sure to lick his bowl super clean after every meal. He has to be in the kitchen when there is cooking going on (or at least some place with a nice view), so a special space was created just for him complete with a fluffy doggie bed (that we call K-bed because we are oh so witty.) This keeps him out of trouble while allowing him to observe what is going on. He is the head of the Lick and Remove Team. If anything falls on the floor, it’s his job to inspect it and dispose of it in the manner of his choosing. If it happens to contain nonfriendly doggie ingredients, then he demands that one of us quickly remove the offending culprit. He loves veggies, fishies, french fries and basically everything else. He enjoys frozen yogurt, long walks, and protecting the house from the evil that is squirrels.
