April 30th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

April 30th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys! Last night Scott and I didn’t get home too late from SF class. We were able to bust out a quick walk with Rocky around the block and then on the couch and in our jammies shortly after 10pm. Not bad! I was a bit snacky and after going through many options in my head I decided on some popcorn.

We snacked and watched some TV. I felt slightly guilty about eating the popcorn. “I should be having fruit!” “This really isn’t such a proper snack.”

But you know what? It tasted good and hit the spot exactly like I expected it to. I don’t eat popcorn everyday or even that often really so eff it. I was quickly over myself and my popcorn guilt.

I got to bed around 11pm and decided not to set my alarm, just get up whenever. That ended up…

Question regarding OHC Reviews

Hi guys!  I thought I would toss this question out and see what your thoughts on the matter are.   I really enjoy writing reviews of products and I was thinking of expanding on that.  I love love love running clothes and gear.  Really just workout clothes period, either for working out or lounging around at home.

I would love to talk about some of my likes and dislikes that I have on gear.  And also share with you some of my thoughts on different products I’ve tried. Would you be interested in reading some OHC Workout Gear Reviews?  It would range from clothing to accessories and also gadget stuff (to indulge my nerdy side).  I created a poll so that you can vote on it without having to leave a comment.  But I would love it if you did comment as well and let me know your thoughts!

Thanks guys!!

April 29th, 2009: Dinner

April 29th, 2009: Dinner

You know you’re a blogger when you start composing the post in your head way before you even sit down to write it.

Today’s dinner was super simple.  I wanted some veggies and a quick salad was in order. Especially since I haven’t had one yet today.

The salad was:

  • Mixed Greens
  • Spinach
  • Romaine
  • Carrots
  • Black beans
  • Raisins
  • Sunflower and pumpkin seeds

Sounds a little odd but it was really good!

With half a baked sweet potato on the side with some butter and cinnamon sugar.  The salad was dressed with a yogurt version of “Caesar Parmesan” which is a redundant name right?  I mean one of the main ingredients in Caesar dressing is parm.  So to say something is a “Caesar Parm” dressing is sort of overstating the obvious.

Stamp-out and abolish redundancy!

P.S. I ate the right 1/2 of the potato.

I thought the raisins would be weird but I wanted something to give the salad a little bit more chew and provide some sweetness. …

April 29th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  We watched one show on TV and while doing that I sipped on a POM fizzie.  This was POM w/ blueberry which smelled fantastic.  I just mixed it with a bit of seltzer and ta-da, fizzie.  I forgot to take a picture of it though!  I’m blaming my sleepy state.  I was in bed asleep by 10pm last night.  Fantastic!  I decided that since I needed the sleep, I wasn’t going to set my alarm but instead just get up whenever.

Whenever turned out to be 7:30 this morning but that’s 9.5 hours of sleep so I’m not complaining.   I got Rocks taken care of and goodness it was a chilly morning outside.  I will tell you right now that I did not go for a run.  I thought about it but I was not feeling it this morning and thus opted to stay home in my robe this morning.  There is a small part…

Review: POM Wonderful

Review: POM Wonderful

I had been seeing POM Wonderful pop up on foodie blogs for a while.  Apparently the POM Fairy was super busy dispensing POM all over the place.  POM had been winking at me and catching my eye while I grocery shopped.   But it didn’t flirt with me enough or offer to buy me a drink so I ignored it.  Finally I decided to be a modern woman and make the first move.  And also I was tired of waiting around for the POM Fairy to call me and tell me it had a surprise just for me.

My next grocery trip, I grabbed the POM by the handle and took it home to have my way with it and do my own review for the blog, gosh darn it!  A little side note, POM does not mind being roughly handled.  Take that as you will.

I had heard rumors that your first time with POM might not be like what you’ve…

April 28th, 2009: Dinner

Hi lovies!  I decided to head to class this evening.  I wasn’t 100% but I was okay enough for class so out into the rain we went.   But before class I had a small bowl of cereal.

New to me cereal, a Kashi blueberry type deal.  It was very yummy!  Sweet but not overly so and perfectly crunchy.  Class was good tonight and something I needed.  I was able to get out my frustration of my crappy run this morning.  After class was a quick stop at Dick’s and I came home with this.

Hooray a roller!  I tried it out and wow is it a little bit odd to get used to.  Definitely will take some practice so I get better at the massage!

Dinner was easy leftovers with fish!

Fishie Tuesday with some brown rice and yesterday’s veggies.  I baked some flounder with chili spices and some lime.  YUM!

I never thought I would be one to have “X…

Tuesday Tip: Roast Chickpeas

Tuesday Tip: Roast Chickpeas

I believe it was Rachael Ray who sort of introduced this concept to me.  I watched her sautee up some chickpeas in olive oil and seasonings to put out as a munchie item.  At first I thought it was odd, who wants to sit down and just chomp on some beans?

Weird.

Then I acquired a new found love for beans and now I’m perfectly happy chomping on some beans.  I changed the concept a bit by taking it out of the skillet and into the oven to make roast chickpeas. I have never looked back!

Roast chickpeas are one of my favorite snacks to make because they just taste freaking awesome.  However, you do have to actually like beans to appreciate this twist.

They are so easy to make and quick that you’ll be snacking in no time.  Ready?

All you have to do is open a can of chickpeas, drain and rinse them.  Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.  In a storage bag,…

April 28th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  SF class ran late last night.  I think it was going on 10:30 by the time we finally plopped down on the couch.   I needed a snack and pulled out some frozen grapes except they went bad and I had to move along to something else.

Final decision, small doses of wine (so the bottle wouldn’t go bad!) PB Puffins and some chocolate chips.  I only had maybe 6-7 chips as they were not what I was looking for but I ate all those Puffins.  Mmmm!  I haven’t had Puffins in ages.  And then it was 11:30 by the time I went to bed.

I got up for my run this morning and then proceeded to have one of the crappest runs ever.  First I overdressed.  It was cool with a good breeze going this morning when I took Rocks out so I wore capris and a longsleeved wicking shirt.  Too much! …

April 27th, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  Before seeing the doc, I had a small bowl of blueberry mini wheats that I found in my pantry.  I love this cereal but probably won’t get it again as it has corn syrup in it.  YUCK!  Granted it’s not HFCS but still why can’t we just have some sugar or cane sugar?

I have gotten the all-clear from the doc!    So now it’s time to prep and get ready to kick this 1/2’s butt on Saturday!  It’s going to be long and it’s going to be rough but I can do it.  And then I think I might have Scott whisk me off to breakfast afterwards so I can stuff my race face.

Okay so dinner tonight was veggie loaded and something I’ve been dreaming about for a while.

Veggie udon noodles!  Heaven. Mmmmm  I loaded this baby up too!

  • Onion
  • Green pepper
  • Green onion
  • Broccoli
  • Sugar peas
  • Carrots
  • Zucchini
  • Mushrooms (for Scott)
  • Vegan nuggets from WF

Delish! …

April 27th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi gang!  So I got up at 8am this morning.  Boo!  I would have loved to sleep in but the roofing guy was going to be over this AM to pickup the final payment for the roof, and that meant I had to get my butt up out of bed.  I figured that with such a late dinner last night that there was no way I was going to be hungry this morning.

Wrong!

I wasn’t starving but I was ready to eat.   I had some coffee and made a yogurt mess.  We’re out of bananas and it’s just too hot to have a big bowl of oats or oatbran.  My mess had:

  • 2% fage
  • Banana nut bear naked
  • Cranberries
  • Raisins
  • Frozen raspberries
  • Frozen blueberries

So yummy!  I am loving the frozen fruit in the yogurt.  Not only am I getting a fruit serving in but they provide a nice temperature and textural change to the mix.  Maybe I’ll branch out and try some mangos…
