January 31st, 2009: Dinner

January 31st, 2009: Dinner

HI guys!  Dinner out got kiboshed.  I was way too tired and only wanted to lay down.   I pretty much laid in bed most of the day reading.  Which was lovely!

I broke for 1/2 a blueberry Z bar.

Then after a few more hours we discussed pizza for dinner.  I ended up making us some pita pizzas because we have yet to find a decent pizza place here and I didn’t want to risk being stuck with crappy pizza.

We had quite the spread!  There was a pita pizza for me and then morningstar buffalo nuggets, carrot sticks, celery, and cucumber and some ranch dressing made with fage on the side.  And a nice glass of red as we started an old movie. I have a wee crush on Robert Osbourne from TCM.

I had all of my pita, 1.5 nuggets and lots of veggies since those were my first of the day!

January 31st, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hey!  I’m posting my eats quick before I lay down for a short nap.   I went to bed around 10ish last night and got up at 7am this morning.  I wasn’t thinking too much about weather because when I checked last night it wasn’t supposed to be too cold.

Wrong. When I took Rocky out this morning, it was 1F.  Sheeee-it.  That’s flipping cold guys.  I sat down and had some coffee while checking email and reading some blogs.  When Scott told me it would be about 1/2 an hour to get to the race, I jumped up and made breakfast quick.

Oats.  If I’m racing, I’m having oats.  Standard mix:

  • 1/2 C old fashioned oats
  • 3/4C vanilla soymilk
  • 1 mashed banana
  • Pinch salt and cinnamon

Mix-ins were cranberries, crushed pecans, and some dark chocolate PB.  I ate most of it but not all.  My stomach was in knots.  After breakfast it was time to get dressed and I made sure…

Race Day

Race Day

HI guys!  I’ll post a full update as soon as I rest a bit, which may even have to be tomorrow.  I’m wiped out!  The race was hard and not at all what I was expecting.  I did it though!   Some people quit, that’s how hard it was but I did not.  I pushed through because I am badass!

January 30th, 2009: Dinner

January 30th, 2009: Dinner

Before we left for errands today,  I snacked on 1/2 a chocolate chip Clif bar.

I knew I would get hungry while we were away if I didn’t eat something beforehand and I didn’t want to have to listen to my tummy growl.  Or become irritated from being hungry.  I decided to cut it off at the pass.  Admittedly the Clif bar wasn’t so great. A little chalky and I had to choke it down.  I need to stick with Z bars I think.

When we got back it was time for dinner!  I wasn’t too hungry but Scott was starving.  I tossed out some ideas and he took too long to decide so I decided for him.

Homemade “hamburger helper” (meaning this didn’t come from a box ).  We haven’t had it in a while and I could use the carbs for tomorrow’s race (or so I’m telling myself!  Shhhh!).  I added some extra…

January 30th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

I did end up having a lil snacky-poo last night.

I was still wanting some carbs so with my 2nd wee glass of wine, I had some spicy Cheez-Its.  Yum!  We watched House Hunters, a show that I love and also secretly love cursing at the people because they say some of the dumbest things! “Oh, I don’t like the furniture in this room.”  Um, it’s not your furniture so you won’t be living with it.  Look at the room not the furniture.  Scott and I actually created a House Hunters Drinking Game™.  I’ll have to post it some day.

At 10pm I was wiped out and headed up to bed.  Thoughts of reading for a bit entered my mind but then I realized that since I was falling asleep while brushing my teeth, that maybe I should just call it a night.

Since I wasn’t running this morning, I decided to try and sleep…

The difference between Seltzer and Club Soda

The difference between Seltzer and Club Soda

A new addition at OHC HQ is the fizzie.  This started last year as a way to provide us fun drinks that are low cal and not alcoholic.  I don’t know about you, but as much as I love water by the end of the day sometimes my mouth wants something a little more exciting.  Wait. That is what I mean to say but not in that way.  Pervs.

Anyways! As much as I love wine (and a good dark beer), those drinks are not body-friendly when having them in excess.  So along came the OHC Fizzies.

When I first started looking into bubbly liquids to become part of the fizzie it actually took me a while to find the right ingredients.  All grocery stores I have come across have tonic no problem.  However, all the tonics I saw contain HFCS as a top ingredient.  Yuck.  We try to stay away from that as much as possible here…

January 29th, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  Rocky’s walk was slow going but at least he got to get outside and stretch his legs.  Some people didn’t shovel so we had to trudge through the snow but it’s all good.  I even got Scott to go out with us!  I love when he walks with us, it’s much more fun.

When we got back from the walk I decided it was a good time for tea!  And I was a wee bit munchie.

I had some peppermint tea with 2% fage mixed with some apricot preserves (all natural, no HFCS) with two prunes.  This was awesome!  I loved the combo of the preserves with the fage, just like peach fage.  Hooray!  No doubt this will start showing up more in my diet.

I did some work and sent out some emails and did some birthday investigating which led to bummer news.  Something I have been so trying to get for…

January 29th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  Man crawling out of bed this morning at 0600 was rough.  I was so tired.  I have no idea what my deal is this week but I seriously need to get some better sleep at night.  I almost slept in but then realized I had way too much to do and needed to stay up and get moving.

It was chilly out this morning for Rocky’s potty run which led me to making some basic oats for breakfast.

Standard oats with some cranberries, pecans & walnuts, and dark chocolate PB as mix-ins.  I ate my oats and caught a little up on blogs.  Then it was time to get to work!  I had to post about yesterday and get my review up for Cheaplander which should have gone up yesterday as well.

I let Scott sleep in a little this morning because I knew he was a tired hunnies from getting up early yesterday and helping me out around…

January 28th, 2009

Yesterday my alarm went off at 6am and I took a quick look outside to see what kind of damage we sustained.  It had been freezing rain all night.  When I looked, everything was covered in ice and all shiney.  Well hell, I’m going back to bed.  I can’t run until it gets much warmer outside so I might as well get some extra sleep.

I got up around 7:30.  As I was feeding Rocky, the lights flickered and then went out.  Piss.  I got Rocky taken care of then I came back inside and woke Scott up.  He needs his two cups of coffee or else he gets a very serious headache.  I figured he should get up and have coffee while it was still hot.  After I got him up and coffeed, I set to work packing coolers.  I packed them with things I for sure didn’t want to spoil in the fridges.  Mostly the soymilks, yogurts, and creamers. …
